Veracruz is a small town with a population of 1300 residents hidden away in the plains of Meta, Colombia. It is surrounded by palm oil plantations where the majority of the workforce is employed.
In the recent past, the school in Veracruz had a residency option for at-risk students, many of those fleeing the violence on the Pacific coast. While the program has been discontinued, the schools still has at-risk students from around the country.
The school has one large building with an auditorium, an administrative office, and a few classrooms. The rest of the campus in in satellite buildings.
The challenge to provide internet connectivity to the school was two-fold. First, due to the the remote location, there was no access to cable or fiber internet. The option was a traditional satellite service that failed to provide the bandwidth necessary
